The Opportunity
When students take tests on Scantron, they typically don't hear back about the specific questions that they got wrong unless they're allowed to write down their answers on a separate piece of paper used to check answers at home. Not only is it a nuisance for students to re-write their answers under the time constraint of an examination, but also a bother for students to have to wait, often days, for instructors to post the answer key online.
The Who: Students in the United States ranging from K12 to the Graduate level
The What: They do not get immediate feedback or results on their tests
The Why: Scantrons have no current feedback loop. It only tells students and instructors how many questions they got right or wrong. It is up to the student to find out by getting their Scantron back from the instructor, and comparing their answers to the key by hand.
Interviews:
Since my target audience is students, it was easy to find five students on campus who were willing to talk about my opportunity. I had great responses in all my interviews; every student wished that that an electronic feedback loop existed for college exams. Many of the students expressed concerns regarding automated response to written questions, leading me to believe that this opportunity should be limited to the scope of multiple-choice-style tests. Additionally, students told me that they often don't have time to visit instructor office hours for test reviews. Hearing this made me even more excited about my business opportunity because it revealed value to my audience that I was not aware of.

I really liked this idea, I think students should always be able to find out which questions they got wrong on the exams, thats the only way to learn from your mistakes! It would be really convenient if there were a way to electronically find out the scores, especially for students that nowadays do everything online. Targeting students is a good idea also, there are tons of students who would find this useful all across the country.
